1. Define the Constitution…..in your own words in a PARAGRAPH (3-5 sentences)

            The Constitution is the supreme law of the land and an established precedents according to a state or orginitization  is acknowledged to be governed. It protects the rights of Americans. Also sets up the government.

2. How would your life be without the constitution ?

          Life would be soooooo differnet and not the same!

3. Define the following words:

Ratification

~ To approve and give formal sanction to.

Faction

~ A cohesive, usu. contentious minority within a larger group.

Federalism

~ A system of federal government.

Federalist/ Antifederalist

~ An advocate of federalism.

Compromise

~ A settlement of ifferences in which each side makes concessions.

The Great Compromise (Connecticut Compromise)

~ An agreement that large and small states reached durning the Constitutional Convention of 1787  that in part defined the legislative structure and representation that each state would have under the United State Constitution.

Checks and Balances

~ An important part of the Constitution.

Democratic Republic

~ A country that is both a republic and a democracy. It is one where ultimate authority and power is derived from the citizens.

Delegated Powers of the Federal Government

~ Expressed, Implied, Inherent

Reserved Powers of the State Governments

~ A power that may be exercised by the head of state without the approval of another branch of the government.

Separation of Powers

~ Often imprecisely used interchangeably with the trias politica principle, is a model for the governance of a state.

Civil Liberties
~ Civil rights and freedoms that provide an individual specific rights.
